April 30, 201810 Things I Wish Everyone Knew About Autism
October 29, 2018Hello, my name is Victoria. I’m 19 years old, and I recently started work at The Autism Awareness Shop. Before my interview, I started working on my resume and practicing interview questions. On the day of my interview I was asked a couple of questions and was given a tour of the shop. I was a little nervous at first, but I got a hang of it. On the first day, I was taught how to use the price gun, how to stock shelves, and where to put things in the store. I also got to meet new people. On the second day, I helped put different sized shirts in the size that they belonged. And I priced and hung a lot of shirts. My experience here so far has been very fun. They made me comfortable and they tell me that I do a good job every day. My work here is simple and easy-going. The people here are very nice. They make you feel welcomed and wanted. If you’re looking for a job, I would suggest work at The Autism Awareness Shop.
What is it like coming to a place where you have different roles, responsibilities, and expectations?
It feels good having responsibilities because it trains me to work in the real world. And when I get a real job, I will understand how to do those responsibilities.
What are some things that you get to do while working at the Autism Awareness Shop?
I get to stock shelves, price items, and put clothes on racks. I also get to express my creativity through art and blogs.
What is your favorite part so far?
My favorite part about working here is getting out of the house and interacting with other people.
What are you excited to learn next?
I’m excited to learn how to work on the cash register and how to interact with the customers.
